Coös has the 3rd highest rate of social associations in the state.

Social associations are an important indicator of social support in the community and are related to health outcomes. Research has shown that social isolation and limited involvement in community life are associated with increased health problems, including early mortality.

This measure counts membership and participation in civic organizations, bowling centers, golf clubs, fitness centers, sports organizations, religious organizations, political organizations, labor organizations, business organizations, and professional organizations. This measure does not account for the kinds of social support offered by family and friends.
