Adults in Prison

This number reports the percent of young people in the North Country who report having had a parent or adult family member in jail or prison. As the Annie E. Casey Foundation explains in their report, “A Shared Sentence,” children can experience profound difficulties when a parent is incarcerated. Incarceration is a stressful and traumatic experience for children, and a financial and family health burden to families.*
